events I I 35laser4_2015 _On 27 and 28 November, experts and mem- bers of the DGL (German Society for Laser Dentistry e.V.)metatthe24th InternationalAnnualCongressin Berlin,thevibrantcapitalofGermany.Incooperation withthescientificleadersoftheDGL,LASERSTARTUP washeldasaparalleleventofthecongress.Here,be- ginners and professionals alike were given opportu- nitiestoinformthemselvesaboutmodernlasersand ways to integrate them to the various treatment methods of their dental practice. In addition, an overviewonallrelevantproductsandcompanieswas given. _Main topic wavelengths For more than 35 years, lasers have been used for diagnosis and therapy in dentistry. The benefits of lasertherapy,suchasthenon-contactmodeandan- tiseptic operation, are undisputed. Yet, minimally in- vasivelasertechnologystillmaintainstosomeextent theroleofanoutsider.Recently,however,thingshave changed in this regard, as modern dental lasers are flexible,powerfulandultimatelyefficient.Therefore, this year’s congress aim was to illustrate the many reasonswhylasersshouldformapartofanymodern dental office.
