Fig. 3_Initial frontal view of the upper teeth. _Introduction TheuseofanEr,Cr:YSGGlasersystemineveryday practice is beyond doubt a very helpful tool in the hands of a trained practitioner. It can be used safely both for hard and soft tissue treatments, with mini- malornouseofanaesthesia,andcomplexcaseswith many different treatments can be treated in less time. Therefore patients enjoy the benefit of time- saving and pain-free treatments. Thefollowingcasereportisfromafemalepatient aged 38, who was referred to the Post-graduate DentalClinicoftheOperativeDentistrydepartment, inAristotleUniversityofThessalonikibytheDepart- ment of Orthodontics. Reason of the reference was thefactthatthepatientshowednocompliancewith theorthodontictreatment(Fig.1).Thereforeafaster and conservative aesthetic solution for the front teethareawasdecided.Anteriorteethhaveasignif- icant psychological and emotional impact on pa- tients owing to their prominent position within the dentitionandtheirmainroleinasmile.Thepatient’s chief complaint was the color of her teeth and the gapsbetweentheupperfrontteeth(Figs.2–6).After obtainingthemedicalanddentalanamnesis,clinical andradiographicexaminationwasperformedinor- der to address any existing therapeutical problems (caries, periodontal, endodontic). The patient mentioned during dental anamnesis recording that she had performed periodontal ther- apyonemonthagoandthatshewasunderobserva- tion by the Department of Periodontology. More- over, it was mentioned that she had worn the brack- ets for more than five years and that she was reluc- tant to continue the orthodontic treatment.
