laser_PTSL Polish Society of Laser Dentistry Activity Report 2014-2016 Polish Society of Laser Dentistry (PTSL) is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to support development, professionalization and exchange of knowledge of the highest world standard in the field of laser dentistry. PTSL encourages membership of all professionals interested in research, development and the use of laser technology in medicine. The idea of creating Polish Society of Laser Dentistry was born in Paris in 2014 at the 14 International Congress of Laser Dentistry (World Federation for Laser Dentistry), where Dr. Kinga Grzech-Lesniak was officially nominated country representative for Poland. In this way, Poland joined the World Federation for Laser Dentistry, which brings together nearly 50 countries around the world. The first step was to create an organization that connects professionals and practitioners from various fields of dentistry, whose work can be coordinated by the Scientific Council. Organizational meeting took place in August 2014 and after all the formalities Polish Society of Laser Dentistry was officially registered at the end of October. At the moment Polish Society of Laser Dentistry (PTSL) has about 150 members. Seven prominent professors of medical and technical universities in Poland make up the Scientific Council. The courses in laser dentistry are carried out for the dentists and dental hygienists under the auspices of PTSL. The courses take place during dental events such as CEDE Dental Exhibition in Poznan and Krakdent in Krakow, as well as in the training centres. Polish Society of Laser Dentistry (PTSL): • represents Polish dental community in international organizations, including WFLD • gathers professionals whose interests and expertise include laser treatment • disseminates knowledge on laser dentistry among students, dentists and dental hygienists • advances knowledge and description guidelines in the field of laser treatment in Poland • contributes to professional development of practitioners in the field of laser treatment • organises and supports scientific research in the field of laser dentistry • builds networks of cooperation with other institutions and organizations at home and abroad • organises educational programmes and training for dental community and related professional groups to advance their knowledge of laser usage and practical abilities.
