The indication for the ex- traction of the teeth was made independently from this trial. Patients gave their informed con- sent for the scientific use of the samples. All in all, 27 teeth were treated with the FACE®-System (SIROInspect®, Sirona, Bensheim, Germany) di- rectly within two hours after extraction (Fig. 1); four untreated teeth served as reference for the histological evaluation. The initial state was recorded by a photo as well as X-ray. After that, the teeth were fixed in a stage.
