ThePalaceofTauusedtobetheresidence ofthebishopsandarchbishopsofReimsand nowhoststhemuseumofthearchitectural construction of the cathedral. The former Abbey of Saint-Rémi, a Ro- manesque-Gothic abbey built in the 11th century, still has its beautiful 9th century nave, in which lie the remains of Arch- bishopSt.Rémi(440–533),whoinstituted the holy anointing of the kings of France. The Musée de la Reddition is the site where the Allied Forces obtained the un- conditional surrender of the Third Reich’s armed forces and the signing room is largely as it was then. Villa Demoiselle, a blend of art nouveau and art deco, was builtfrom 1904to 1908. It was restored in 2004to itsformerglory and is a Champagne house today.
