Today, the targeted approach of Phase III derives from our long experience of working to- gether, assessing outcomes and jointly deciding on the way forward, with the overarching purpose of im- proving oral health globally and sup- porting FDIVision 2020. Our partner- ship programme is integrated with the Unilever Brush Day & Night cam- paign, and focuses on children as vectors of family-wide messages on oral hygiene and health, to provide long-term sustainability within com- munities. The 2015–2016 period has been especially fulfilling for the FDI and Unilever, with national dental associa- tion and Unilever local partnership teams carrying out school pro- grammes in ten countries in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and South Amer- ica. The commitment and coopera- tion of all involved have helped our planning and coordination, deliver- ing timely evaluation data that is now under analysis. We would like to take this opportunity to commend the hard work of the FDI national dental associations and partnership experts Drs Jo Frencken and Paulo Melo (FDI Public Health Committee) in support- ing our Brush Day & Night school pro- grammes. It is because of their com- bined expertise and insider knowl- edge of national, social and cultural considerations that our projects are customised and relevant for local communities. In 20 countries, the FDI–Unilever partnership supports World Oral Health Day celebrations. It provides national dental associations with the means to develop effective oral health communications and engaging activi- ties in partnership with Unilever local brands, focused around a single day, 20 March.
