Patient selection is critical and depends on the type of malocclusion, pro- file, canine shape and colour, and smile lip level. Pre-treatment evaluation of these selection cri- teria is necessary to ensure treatment success and predictable aesthetics. When planning to replace congenitally mis- sing lateral incisors, you should remember that an interdisciplinary approach is necessary to provide the most predictable treatment outcome. The orthodontist should always consider the patient’s age, skeletal and facial pattern, dento- alveolar crowding, as well as performing dental and facial aesthetic analyses. Dr Dan Andrei Iacob. Graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry of the Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ias‚ i, Romania. He is a specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics.
