Thousands of dental profes- sionals will have the opportunity to learn about the latest products and solutions in dentistry when the SCANDEFA trade show opens its doors again to visitors this week at Bella Center in Copen- hagen. Several industry competi- tors have announced that they will be introducing innovations at SCANDEFA, ranging from new materials and equipment to com- plete digital treatment solutions, aimed at improving communica- tion between dental practices and laboratories, as well as improving treatment outcomes for restora- tive and implant procedures. Finnish equipment manufac- turer Planmeca, for example, will be showcasing its open-interface CAD/CAM solution (an overview of the system, which includes an intra-oral scanner, prosthetics planning software and milling units, is provided on pages 4–7 in this edition). 3Shape, a digital so- lutions provider from Denmark, will have its new 3-D scanner for dental laboratories on display. The D900L was launched at the Chicago Dental Society Midwin- ter Meeting in the US in February. With RECIPROC, specialist com- pany VDW from Germany will be presenting a complete system for root canal preparation that only uses a single instrument and is suitable for removing gutta-per- cha and carrier-based filling dur- ing retreatment. Over 150 manufacturers and dealers have registered for this year’s exhibition, according to the latest figures from the organiser. Prizes will again be awarded to those companies that introduced innovations to the market last year that improve the workflow in dental practices, improve the treatment outcome or make treat- ment for patients safer and more predictable. Among the nominees for the SCANDEFA prizes this year are local providers RØNVIG Dental and Unident, as well as for- eign companies Dürr Dental and GC Corporation, represented by its Scandinavian subsidiary GC Nordic. In addition to the trade exhibi- tion, visitors will be able to inform themselves about the latest meth- ods and applications in dentistry during the annual conference of the Danish Dental Association, which will be held in Bella Center at the same time. The scientific programme, which ranges from clinical photography to different restorative treatment options, will be presented by a number of well-known Danish and interna- tional clinicians and experts. Over 10,000 dental professionals are expected to attend both events. Registration for the exhibition is free and can be done on-site or online at www.scandefa.dk. AD
