The Swedish clinician and researcher changed dentistry in the 1960s significantly with his breakthroughdiscoveryofthepos- sibility of integrating bone tissue with an artificial material like tita- nium, thereby making modern im- plant therapy possible. Unfortu- nately, he passed away after a pe- riod of illness in December last year. The meeting will honour his achievements with a special sym- posium on Sunday at the Aula Medica at Karolinska Institutet, whereBrånemarkwasawardedan honorary doctorate.
