It is the first time that the An- nualScientificCongressoftheEAO is held in Sweden. Over 4,000 den- tal professionals from Europe and outsidethecontinentareexpected to attend the annual three-day event at Stockholmmässan, which is staged for the 24th time. This year’s edition is largely influenced by the work of Prof. Per-Ingvar Brånemark. The Swedish clinician and researcher changed dentistry in the 1960s significantly with his breakthroughdiscoveryofthepos- sibility of integrating bone tissue with an artificial material like tita- nium, thereby making modern im- plant therapy possible. Unfortu- nately, he passed away after a pe- riod of illness in December last year. The meeting will honour his achievements with a special sym- posium on Sunday at the Aula Medica at Karolinska Institutet, whereBrånemarkwasawardedan honorary doctorate.
