Matching the shade when using different framework materials is clearly facilitated by the universal layering diagram and the precise shade coordination. After all, the veneering ceramic is the key to highly esthetic results within the IPS e.max System – both on lithium disilicate (LS2) and zirconium ox- ide (ZrO2) – particularly for the ad- aptation to the natural model. The unique combination of translucen- cy, brightness, and opalescence leads to natural light scattering and a bal- anced relationship between bright- nessandchroma.(Fig.2) At the beginning of the all-ceramic era, both lithium disilicate and zir- conium oxide were only available with medium or high opacity.
