Mozer, DDS, MS, DICOI, FICOI n Guided surgery is the great equal- izer and effectively allows complex implant procedures to be as predict- able and stress-free as simple implant placements. Whether you are an experienced clinician or in the early stages of prac- tice, 3-D imaging and guided implant surgery allows the clinician to care- fully analyze the patient’s anatomical condition, occlusal scheme and bone morphology when pre-planning the implant surgery in software. Transferring the surgical plan to the patient with the use of 3-D printed surgical guides permits the day of surgery to be as stress-free and pre- dictable as possible. With clinical decisions premade based upon the pre-op X-ray, you have the reassurance to know that your implant will be placed in the best possible position and orientation for the patient. Clinical case The patient presented with the diag- nosis of external resorption in the lower anterior mandible. Because of the very thin ridge of bone, treat- ment planning options included onlay block grafting with the disadvan- tages of a second surgical site, co- morbidities and technique sensitive surgical procedures. The traditional prosthetic dental options of lower partial denture and fixed bridge were alternatives that were less than desirable for the patient. In this case, the ultra-narrow plat- form Adin Touareg Closefit 2.75 mm diameter implants were treatment planned for guided surgery with 360Imaging. Surgical guides were fabricated, and the affected teeth were extracted as atraumatically as possible. Particulate bone grafts were placed with aPRF and iPRF, and three Adin Touareg Closefit 2.75 mm implants were immediately placed with cover screws. After four months of healing, the site was uncovered, healing abut- ments placed for tissue contouring and an open tray impression taken with Impregum. You might notice that things here have changed quite a bit, and we’re not just talking about the skyline, which now includes dozens of new high-rises. Perhaps your favorite restaurant or shop has closed forever — or maybe it’s still there as if nothing ever hap- pened. You’ll notice lots of outdoor dining shacks, some of which are heated and surprisingly cozy. When you dine out, you’ll need to show proof of vaccination. A photo of your vax card on your phone will suffice. Many Broadway shows, including “Hamilton,” “Aladdin,” “Chicago,” “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Wicked,” have reopened. If you attend a play or musical, you’ll need to show proof of vaccination and wear a mask. Masks are also required on public transportation. You can now use your smartphone to pay for subway or bus fare, which is currently $2.75.
