(Source: AO) NYU to increase access to dental implants for patients in need By Straumann Group North America Staff New York University College of Den- tistry has received funding and in-kind support from Straumann Group North America in order to make dental im- plants more accessible for patients in need and to foster and enhance student education. “This donation directly supports NYU College of Dentistry’s mission to provide affordable, high-quality dental care to our patients, and we are grateful to Strau- mann for its generosity,” said Dr. Charles N. Bertolami, Herman Robert Fox Dean of NYU College of Dentistry. The investment from Straumann Group North America includes a dona- tion of products to NYU College of Den- tistry’s clinics, which will subsidize im- plant treatment for patients in need, and other funding to support NYU College of Dentistry’s newly launched Patient Care Access Fund, created to reduce fi- nancial barriers for patients who would otherwise not be able to receive dental implants as part of their treatment plans. “We are proud to invest in the educa- tion of NYU dental students and the com- munity of patients they serve and believe this will have a true and lasting impact on underserved populations,” said Rob- ert Woolley, executive vice president and head of Straumann Group North Ameri- ca. “This important initiative aligns with our global mission to restore smiles and confidence.” “Dental implants are an important res- toration option for patients, but cost can be a barrier,” said Dr. Robert Glickman, associate dean for clinical affairs and hospital relations, and chair and profes- sor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at NYU College of Dentistry. “Through our new Patient Care Access Fund, as well as materials donated by Straumann Group North America, we can bring healthy, complete smiles to many patients who previously would not have considered dental implants.”
