Powered by Benco Dental and 10,000 members strong, The Lucy Hobbs Proj- ect encourages dental professionals to become part of the movement that is changing the face of dentistry through networking, innovation and giving back. Named for Dr. Lucy Hobbs Taylor, who in 1866 became the first American female to earn a degree in dentistry, the project brings women together from all facets of the dental profession — dentists, dental assistants, hygienists, receptionists, sales representatives and others. Three days of events with a focus on “Mind+Body+Soul” will include panel discussions, C.E. credits and opportuni- ties to give back, while inviting the proj- ect’s members — and all women in den- tistry — to “Achieve Your Personal Best Balance, at Home and Work.” Events at the Blackstone Hotel in Chi- cago included in the $199 ticket price are: Thursday, Oct. 3, afternoon reception and optional tours; Friday, Oct. 4, full day of panels, speakers and the celebra- tion ceremony honoring six Lucy Hobbs Project award recipients; and Saturday, Oct. 5, morning group yoga and healthy breakfast followed by give-back activity to benefit Let It Be Us, a nonprofit that finds homes for the 18,000 children liv- ing in Illinois foster care. Benco Dental, based in Northeastern Pennsylvania, is a privately owned den- tal distributor offering supplies, equip- ment and services. Founded in 1930 by Benjamin Cohen, the company remains family owned with the mission to “deliv- er success, smile after smile.” In 88 years, Benco has grown from one location into a national network with five distribution centers and three design showrooms. A high point of the Benco Dental 7th annual Lucy Hobbs Project Celebration is the honoring of six women for setting new benchmarks in the dental profession across a variety of categories. Focusing on ‘Mind+Body+Soul,’ the three-day event also includes panel discussions, continu- ing education and opportunities to give back, while inviting the project’s members — and all women in dentistry — to ‘Achieve Your Personal Best Balance, at Home and Work.’ AD
