L’un des facteurs influençant cette pénétration est la viscosité du gel. Les gels à haute viscosité présentent une moindre pénétration.16 Le recours à l’Intra Oral Brush permet une application uni- forme du gel et il minimise son étalement susceptible d’endommager la muqueuse de la patiente, ce qui est tout particulière- ment important en cas d’utilisation de gels à faible viscosité. Le mécanisme à la base du éclaircissement dentaire à l’aide de matériaux à base de peroxyde est un phénomène complexe associant diffu- sion, interaction et modifications superfi- cielles des dents.21 L’influence du volume, de la quantité et de l’épaisseur du gel d’éclaircissement n’ont néanmoins pas encore été évaluée. Des examens complé- mentaires peuvent s’avérer nécessaires afin de déterminer si le fait de disposer d’une épaisseur uniforme peut générer un quelconque bénéfice en termes de chan- gements de couleur ou d’amélioration de la diffusion dans l’émail et la structure de la dentine.
