4 Primera Plana a la hora de conseguir crecimiento diferencial, lo que si es interesante es que los dispositivos empleados 24 horas obtienen mayor crecimiento que los utilizados 8 o 16 horas. Se realizó previamente una revisión de 22 artículos que reportaban infor- mación sobre casos tratados obte- niendo resultados muy dispares. De los 22 artículos analizados por Bac- cetti, únicamente 7 de los estudios realizados utilizaban como método de predicción la maduración esque- lética del paciente, por lo que la ma- yoría de ellos usó como método de inclusión la edad cronológica, de los 7 artículos dos de ellos compararon pacientes tratados antes del pico con los del pico por lo que finalmente de los 9 grupos de pacientes que se trataron en estos estudios 5 grupos fueron tratados antes del pico y 4 grupos de pacientes fueron tratados justo en el pico de crecimiento. Los resultados de estos ensayos clínicos aleatorizados concluyen que única- mente los pacientes tratados en pico de crecimiento presentan diferen- cias estadísticamente significativas con respecto al aumento Co-Gn. Tras el análisis y conclusiones de di- chas investigaciones vamos a realizar una revisión de la bibliografía cen- trándonos exclusivamente en Ensa- yos clínicos aleatorizados de pacien- tes tratados en pico de crecimiento puberal con el fin de comprobar si existe dicho crecimiento diferencial. Podemos afirmar que existe unani- midad en los estudios analizados con respecto al crecimiento mandibular, obteniendo todos los estudios resul- tados diferenciales con respecto al grupo control. Una de las limitacio- nes que hemos observado, contras- tando con lo observado en clínica y los estudios de crecimiento, es que ningún estudio utilizó como criterio de inclusión el patrón facial de cre- cimiento, consideramos un sesgo el hecho de aplicar este filtro a la hora de tratar los pacientes ya que los es- tudios de crecimiento mandibular nos informan de que ángulos gonia- les aumentados están relacionados con pacientes con poco potencial de crecimiento mientras que aquellos con ángulos goniales por debajo de 124º son pacientes considerados con buen crecimiento. CONCLUSIONES La aparatología funcional es un tra- tamiento que aumenta la longitud Co-Gn en pacientes con clase II de origen basa. tratamiento con aparatología El funcional de pacientes en clase II esquelética es mas eficiente en esta- dios de maduración cervical III y VI (Pico de crecimiento puberal).
