INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DENTAL STUDENTS No. 1, 2017

NOVEMBER2017 The winner of the lecture contest was Lucas Queiroz Caponi from Università degli Studi Gabriele D'Annunzio who presented his research as a poster. The organizing committee truly attended to every detail, and so did the Social Program & Post-Congress! The most famous event of every IADS Congress is the traditional Exchange Fair: in this evening everyone is given the unique opportunity to present their country with their national specialities. We also got the chance to indulge in Spanish food and culture during Spanish night and in the Official Dinners. The closing ceremony was just as outstanding and took place in beautiful Grand Maester Theater. After a few days of working together, learning and having fun, the time came to relax. So, a part of the IADS family went on to the post-congress in heavenly Valencia. The organizing committee proved to be enthusiastic and lively from the first moments of our get together. The bus took us from the hotel in Madrid and drove through Spanish fields towards the marvelous new city. Despite the rare occurrence of rain that delayed our arrival, we were still welcomed with a delightfully delicious meal at a restaurant near our hotel. Afterwards, the part of the group with any energy left went clubbing while the others got back to the hotel to get some rest for the next day’s events. On the first day, we were taken on a sightseeing tour which made everyone fall in love with Valencia. The history amazed us as well as the parks and monuments. While walking through the sunny streets, we learned the legend of the bat that saved the city during a war back in time. That night we had a gala dinner in the City of Arts and Sciences and we partied in a glamorous club nearby. The next day we followed the sun, and the sun lead us to the beach. All day, we enjoyed the soft sands, crystal clear water and, of course, each other’s good company. The sunset caught us sipping cocktails at this fine club on the beach. On our last day, the outstanding organizing team, AVEO, took us to the City of Arts and Sciences again, but this time during daytime. The first stop was the Oceanographic where we were stunned to discover live sea animals ranging from sharks to clown fish. The lunch was picnic in the park, from where some of us left to the Science Museum. After dinner, the common decision was to have a room party. As it was hard to say goodbye, our party went on till sunrise. Overall, we had the best time in the short period we were there, promising to return as soon as possible. Undoubtedly, all of us who attended the post-congress want to thank the organizing committee again for an amazing stay in Valencia. The Spanish Dental Students Association would like to thank all the participants for their presence and continuation of the IADS tradition. As with every IADS Annual Congress, this one was incredible, and would have been a huge pity to miss! Besides, great lectures during the scientific program are also invaluable opportunities to meet dental students and dentists from around the world! The next chance to attend an IADS congress will be in Taiwan in September 2018 but until then, we would like to invite you all to the Mid-year Meeting (MYM) in beautiful Cyprus, set to take place in Nicosia in February 2018! We hope to see you all very soon! by Alexa Dogaru - Pongkarn Kanjanawattana - Joanna Dawcewicz. 30
