INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DENTAL STUDENTS No. 1, 2017

NOVEMBER2017 RDSA as the first IADS Association to host IADS HR TNT Benoit NYIRINKWAYA presenting about Modern slavery For the first time, International Association of Dental Students (IADS) launched a new set of Training of New Trainers hosted by Rwanda Dental Students Association (RDSA), a member of IADS based in University of Rwanda, Kigali in order to certify human rights advocates from all around the world which took place in Kigali, Rwanda, from the 16th of July to 22nd July 2017. RDSA hosted the first Human Rights Training of New Trainers (HR TNT) in IADS history. The initiative of IADS behind this training was to introduce Human Rights courses within the TNT’s, rather than focusing only on soft skills training. and Both Human Rights and soft skills were introduced and discussed. This training was designed organized by RDSA members and 16 certified IADS Human Rights advocates in different areas related to Human Rights and soft skills such as leadership, management, project effective communication, stress and time management, presentation fundraising, skills, modern slavery, and covered all thirty articles of Human Rights. The certified IADS Human Rights trainers are responsible to train the whole IADS family with the aim of increasing Human Rights trainers in the World. Human Rights have to be Human for protected within communities and worldwide. They set the foundation that allows all people to live with dignity, freedom, justice and peace. Therefore, basic knowledge Rights about is important everyone especially as future health professionals, our role is to help people in all facets of society and in difficult situations. Nowadays soft skills are the tools of today’s work force. It is not enough to be highly skills, trained technical developing without soft skills interpersonal and relationship-building skills that help people communicate and collaborate effectively. like in is the training first HRTNT Rwanda Human Rights in IADS history which gathered students from different nations such as Sudan, England and USA and it is the turning point in the view of IADS members toward basics of Human Rights and our ethical and professional role as healthcare providers. having Most different from different countries and cultures during HRTNT in Rwanda was an amazing opportunity to develop skills amongst ourselves as dental students and IADS family at large. interpersonal importantly, delegates Students from USA, UK, SUDAN and RWANDA Ernest MUGESERA Training on effective communication By Ernest MUGESERA,NEO of RDSA Email: ernestmiker1@gmail.com. 10
