Everything we do is about helping dental professionals deliver the best possible oral care, for the ben- efit of their patients and practices—to- day and for years to come. Regarding what Dentsply Sirona stands for, we no longer think in individ- ual products or modules, but in intelli- gent solutions. This enables us to sup- port dentists and dental technicians to provide better, safer and faster dental treatments. That is why we call our- selves “The Dental Solutions Company”. While dental treatments always take a customised approach, they must adhere to clinically proven proto- cols. As part of these processes, prac- titioners use a range of technologies, devices and consumables. What particular challenges have you faced in merging two companies of such size and scope? What kinds of obstacles had to be overcome? It is a big deal when two of the largest companies in an industry come together. The right cultural fit is essen- tial. When we came out with our mis- sion and vision of delivering innova- tive dental solutions to improve oral health worldwide, the team really ral- lied behind these. The rationale of the merger was to create the largest global manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies by combining leading brands across consumables, equip- ment and technology to better meet customer needs with complementary end-to-end solutions backed by unpar- alleled investment in education and R & D. As a result of the merger, our customers now have access to the most comprehensive product range from a single manufacturing source, supported by the largest sales and ser- vice infrastructure in the dental indus- try. Our broader spectrum of inte- grated solutions allows dentists to of- fer completely new treatment con- cepts, for instance in implantology and endodontics. In addition, Dentsply Sirona solu- tions ensure high-quality aesthetics and a better patient experience, which increases patient acceptance of proce- dures. We support our solutions and customers through the broadest clini- cal education platform in the industry to assist practitioners in adopting new technologies and advancing patient care. Coming together was all about being able to better serve the market and improve clinical outcomes. I bet you will find it difficult to dis- tinguish between legacy Sirona and legacy DENTSPLY because we are al- ready one global brand. Our equip- ment, technology and consumables are already coming together to create end-to-end Dentsply Sirona solutions. By providing consumables, equip- ment, technology and specialty products to dental professionals and dental laboratories worldwide, Dentsply Sirona strives for better, safer and faster dental care. Among the vast range of products and ser- vices you offer, if you could highlight one innovation of Dentsply Sirona CAD/CAM, Endodontics, Prosthetics and Implants, what would they be? As I mentioned, at IDS, we are un- veiling more than 50 new products. Seamlessly structured processes are enabled owing to the innovative fea- tures and products that Dentsply Sirona is exhibiting at IDS 2017. For example, the versatile complete imag- ing solution Orthophos SL now fea- tures a new function, which is avail- able as an upgrade. With immediate effect, the radiation dose for 3-D im- ages can be reduced to a level for cer- tain clinical indications, which, to date, has only been associated with 2-D images. Furthermore, the CEREC software has been comprehensively updated to transform it into a system offering almost unlimited possibilities. CEREC SW 4.5 with its intelligent tools makes it even easier for newcomers to enter the world of digital prosthetics. The new Dentsply Sirona Hub sup- ports the integration of CEREC into the practice via its plug and play inter- faces. All clinical data and the backup of the CAD/CAM data can thus be saved and archived centrally and re- trieved at any time as needed. For endodontics, the WaveOne Gold family of reciprocating files has been enhanced to include the Wave- One Gold Glider. It is the first recipro- cating glide path file on the market. The metallurgical state-of-the-art WaveOne Gold instruments facilitate root canal preparation with an effi- cient one-file technique. In the field of implantology, the implant OsseoSpeed Profile EV (ASTRA TECH Implant System) has been developed for implant patients with an extremely reduced bone vol- ume. Owing to this solution, augmenta- tion is now often no longer necessary. In handpieces, the short version S-Line has been added to the contra-an- gle T2 and T3 series. This new version impresses with its reduced overall weight. The hygiene handpiece Mid- west RDH and the cordless prophy- laxis system Nupro Freedom mark fur- ther additions to the handpiece range. For the laboratory, the company offers software solutions such as the latest updates for inLab CAD SW 16.0 and inLab CAM SW 16.0; material in- novations like Celtra Press (the press- able zirconia-reinforced lithium sili- cate), Cercon xt (the extra-translucent zirconia) and inCoris CCB (the new sintered metal disc for the inLab MC X5 milling unit); and the Atlantis CustomBase solution for screw-re- tained single-tooth restorations. The combination of digital technol- ogies with innovative products to cre- ate harmonised solutions is not an end in itself. We see it as a path toward making dentistry better, faster and safer. It is all about supporting our cus- tomers in practices and laboratories in using these innovations for optimal dental treatments and improving the long-term oral health of the patients. Everyone involved will benefit from this—both today and in the future. In 2015, you remarked on the ex- traordinary excitement you felt at IDS. How has it been this time? What is, in your opinion, the next trend or innovation in the making? I am definitely excited to see our passionate team—more than 800 em- ployees are taking care of our custom- ers and introducing them to our inte- grated solutions and workflows. Their energy and commitment is part of our identity and a critical driver of our success. We consistently think through the processes of dental treatment, from the initial diagnosis through to the fi- nal treatment, for the patient and pro- vide solutions that are harmonised with each other. To accomplish this, we work closely with our customers, dental practitioners and dental techni- cians to ensure that innovations in the practice and the laboratory result in maximum benefit for patients. Dentsply Sirona is the preferred manufacturing partner for dentists and dental technicians—with every- thing from a single source. They do not have to worry about how products and workflows can be combined intelli- gently and efficiently; we do that for them. They do not obtain only products from Dentsply Sirona; they receive dental solutions and best-in-class ser- vice.
