Frank Berlinghoff: Unser Sys- tem erlaubt einen Einblick in die Be- handlungssituation bei der Implanta- tion in Echtzeit. Der Behandler ver- fügt damit quasi über ein Echt- zeitröntgenbild, wo er nicht nur den I Bohrer sieht, sondern auch gleichzei- tig die Patientenanatomie und die Im- plantatplanung, Ein weiterer Vorteil ist, dass die gebohrten Löcher proto- kolliert werden, sodass man sie mit denen aus der Planung vergleichen kann. Das kann später bei den pro- tethischen Versorgungen nützlich sein. Dieses System ist einzigartig da- rin, dass man während der OP prak- tisch in den Patienten reinschauen und alle knöchernen Strukturen und andere anatomische Gegebenheiten sehen kann. Es gibt sogar eine War- nung aus, wenn man dem Nerven- kanal zu nahe komme. Was sagen Behandler zu dem Gerät? Wir haben an den Prototypen na- türlich schon eine Reihe von Usabili- ty-Tests gemacht, sowohl mit erfahre- nen als auch weniger erfahrenen Im- plantologen. Alle haben gesagt, dass so ein System Sinn macht. Natürlich ist eine gewisse Lernkurve dabei, weil man sich erst an den Zusatz auf dem Handstück sowie den Marker im Mund gewöhnen muss. Wir haben je- doch sehr vielversprechendes Feed- back bekommen. Schon am ersten Messetag hatten wir Gespräche mit einer Reihe von Händlern sowie mit zahlreiche Implantologen. Sie stellen derzeit noch ein Vor- Serienmodell aus. Wann wird das Gerät auf den Markt kommen? Wir erwarten unser CE-Zeichen in den nächsten Monaten. Der end- gültige Launch ist für das vierte Quartal dieses Jahres geplant. Wir werden uns zuerst auf den deutsch- sprachigen und europäischen Markt konzentrieren, was im Wesentlichen auch mit den Partnerschaften und Distributionspartnern zu tun hat, mit denen wir derzeit zusammenarbei- ten. Darüber hinaus gab es auch schon Gespräche mit potenziellen Partnern in den USA, wo wir uns eine baldige FDA-Zulassung erhoffen. Kontakte gab es auch schon zu Partnern aus Län- dern wie Indien, China oder Brasilien, wo die Implantologie derzeit ein star- kes Wachstum verzeichnet. Frank Berlinghoff: Our system provides a real-time view of the treat- ment situation during implantation. The dentist therefore effectively has a real-time radiographic image on which he or she can see the drill, the patient’s anatomy and the implant plan simultaneously. This system is unique in that the dentist can practically look inside the patient during surgery and view all of the bone structures and other anatomical features. It even issues a warning if the surgeon comes too close to a nerve canal. What have dentists said about the device? We have already undertaken a range of usability tests on the proto- types, of course, both with experi- enced and less experienced implan- tologists. They have all said that such a system is useful. Of course, there is something of a learning curve, be- cause they must first become used to the attachment on the handpiece and the marker in the patient’s mouth. Nevertheless, we have received a great deal of very promising feed- back. On the first day of the show al- ready, we held talks with a range of dealers and a number of implantolo- gists. Many regard the miniaturisa- tion in particular as a major advance- ment. You are currently still presenting a pre-production model. When will the device be launched? We expect to receive the CE mark- ing for the product in the coming months. The final launch is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. We will initially focus on the Ger- man-speaking and European market, which is mainly to do with the part- ners and distribution partners with whom we currently collaborate. In addition, we have already held talks with potential partners in the US, where we hope to receive US Food and Drug Administration approval soon. We have also already estab- lished contacts with partners from India, China and Brazil, where implan- tology is currently showing strong growth. Mr Berlinghoff, thank you for the in- terview.
