(cid:132) Zur IDS-Pressekonferenz präsen- tierte der Dentalspezialist Dürr Dental unter dem Claim „Für die mo- derne Zahnarztpraxis“ seine aktuel- len Innovationen in Form von einem System für das gesamte 3-D-Röntgen und seiner Marke für die professio- nelle Prophylaxe. Nach der Begrüßung durch Tho- mas Hammann, Dr. Kaschny PR GmbH, verwies Dürr-Vorstandsvorsit- zender Martin Dürrstein bei seinen einleitenden Worten auf die lange Tradition des Familienunternehmens in 3. Generation, das innerhalb von 75 Jahren zu einer echten Größe in der Dentalwelt geworden ist und diese Position durch seinen hohen Innovationsanspruch stetig ausbaut. Mit Stolz verwies er auf das neue 3-D-Röntgensystem VistaVox S, des- sen Testlauf in ausgewählten Praxen bereits im Herbst 2016 begonnen hat und mit sehr gutem Feedback seitens der Anwender versehen wurde. VistaVox S kombiniert Diagnose- sicherheit mit Effizienz und geringer Strahlung. Neben der Bildgebung be- zeichnete Martin Dürrstein die Pra- xisversorgung sowie Desinfektions- und Prophylaxesysteme als die Basis des Dentalunternehmens und freute sich, in allen Bereichen mit Neuhei- ten zur diesjährigen IDS aufwarten zu können. Mit dem Lunos Prophy- laxesystem für die sub- und supragin- givale Reinigung sei eine System- AD lösung entwickelt worden, die den Komfort von Patienten und Praxis- team deutlich steigern kann. Anschließend übergab er das Wort an Prof. Dr. Dr. Metzger vom Universitätsklinikum Freiburg, der aus klinischer Sicht über seine Erfah- rungen mit dem 3-D-Röntgensystem VistaVox S berichtete und dabei auf die derzeitigen Quantensprünge in der Entwicklung der Medizintechnik und verzichtet auf Informationen, die für den Behandler unnötig sind. Da- durch konnte Dürr die Strahlendosis deutlich reduzieren und zeigt gleich- zeitig genauer, worauf es ankommt. Anhand von ver- schiedenen Beispielen von Fehlinter- pretationen von 2-D-Aufnahmen ver- anschaulichte der MKG-Chirurg an- schließend die Notwendigkeit von 3-D-Aufnahmen, beispielsweise in Hinblick auf verlagerte Zähne in der Kieferorthopädie, Parodontalspalten, Wurzelkanäle, Weisheitszahnentfer- nung und Implantatplanung. Im zweiten Vortrag erläuterte Dr. Andreas Braun von der Universität Marburg die Bedeutung der sub- und supragingivale Reinigung mit dem Lunos-Prophylaxesystem. Nach ei- nem kurzen Abriss zum Thema Gingi- vitis sowie deren wichtigster Gegen- maßnahme, der Plaqueentfernung, stellte er in Auszügen die Ergebnisse der verschiedenen Studienansätze seiner wissenschaftlichen Auseinan- dersetzung mit dem Lunos-Prophy- laxesystem dar. Dabei konnte eine signifikante Reduzierung des Bio- films durch die subgingivale Pulver- strahlreinigung beobachtet werden. Außerdem zeigte die supragingivale Politur eine deutlich geringere Ober- flächenschädigung. Aktuell laufen außerdem noch Studien zur Effektivi- tät bei der Reinigung von Implantat- oberflächen sowie der Reinigung vor der Befestigung von Brackets. Die ausführlichen Ergebnisse der Studien werden zur IADR-Tagung vorgestellt, die zeitgleich zur IDS in San Fran- cisco stattfindet. (cid:26) (cid:132) At its IDS press conference, dental specialist Dürr recently presented its current innovations in the form of a system for all applications of 3-D radio graphy and its brand for profes- sional prophylaxis under the slogan “For the modern dental practice”. Preceded by a few words of wel- come by Thomas Hammann from Dr. Kaschny PR, Dürr CEO Martin Dürrstein, in his introduction, briefly traced the long tradition of the third- generation family-run company that has become a real force in dentistry in a space of 75 years and that has continued to strengthen this position through outstanding standards of in- novation. He referred with pride to the new 3-D radiographic system VistaVox S, which has been trialled in selected practices since autumn 2016 and already received excellent feed- back from its users. The unit com- bines diagnostic confidence with effi- ciency and low radiation. In addition to imaging technology, Dürrstein described practice supplies and disinfection and prophylaxis sys- tems as the basis of any dental enter- prise. He showed clear pleasure at be- ing able to present innovations in all of these areas at this year’s IDS, in- cluding the Lunos prophylaxis system for sub- and supragingival cleaning, which provides a solution that will significantly increase comfort for pa- tients and the practice team alike. A particularly user-friendly new product is the specially developed MyFlow powder jet handpiece with exchange- able chambers to enable uninter- rupted treatment and thereby guaran- tee genuine time savings. After a review of the history of radiographic technology, he went on to describe big data as a key element of the twen- ty-first century. Metzger referred to the amount of data as both a blessing and a curse, and linked this to the ef- ficiency of VistaVox S: the 3-D radio- graphic system focuses exclusively on the upper and lower jaws, ignoring in- formation that is irrelevant to the cli- nician. This has enabled Dürr to sig- nificantly reduce the radiation dose and to provide more precise imaging of the areas that really matter. The menu has been simplified to aid oper- ation and now requires the selection of just a few buttons to obtain the de- sired image. The oral and maxillofa- cial surgeon then used a variety of misinterpreted 2-D images to illustrate the need for 3-D technology, for in- stance in respect of displaced teeth in orthodontics, periodontal gaps, root canal therapy, third molar extraction and implant planning. In a second presentation, Dr An- dreas Braun from the Philipp Univer- sity of Marburg explained the signifi- cance of sub- and supragingival clean- ing using the Lunos prophylaxis sys- tem. After briefly outlining the topic of gingivitis and the most important preventative measure—the removal of plaque—he presented some of the find- ings of various studies in his scientific investigation of Lunos. The results showed a significant reduction in bio- film by means of subgingival powder jet cleaning. Moreover, supragingival polishing also led to substantially re- duced surface damage. Current stud- ies are underway on the system’s effectiveness in the cleaning of im- plant surfaces and cleaning proce- dures before the attachment of brack- ets. The detailed findings of the com- pleted studies are to be presented at the 2017 International Association for Dental Research conference, being held in San Francisco in the US during IDS. (cid:26)
