The implant was first inserted into the osteotomy until it reached the end ofthe prepared site. The implant was then slowly ad- vanced until the sinus floor was penetrated for approximately1mm.Aperiapicalradiographwas performed in orderto determinewhetherthe im- plant had penetrated the sinus floor. A saline sy- ringe with 2–3 cm3 of a 0.9% sterile saline solu- tion was connected to the implant through the tubing port.Withthis system, thetube connector iseasilyassembledontheimplant,allowinginjec- tion offluidswith a standard Luerlock connector. Saline solution was gently injected through the implantandintothesinusandslightbleedingwas noted in the retracted saline solution upon stop- ping the injection.Asyringe containing 2 cm3 of a flowable bone graft material(MBCPGel, Biomat- lante, Vigneux-de-Bretagne, France) was subse- quentlyconnectedtothe same port. The material was slowly injected through the implant into the sinus (Fig. 4). After the grafting procedure had been completed, the hydraulic system was dis- connectedfromthe implant, andthe implantwas insertedtoitsentirelengthintotheosteotomyand thegraftedsinuscavityandlefttoheal according to a submerged protocol.
