The Cambodian Dental Associa- tion won the award in the sustainable category for SEAL CAMBODIA, an ex- citing project to save children’s teeth in the country, where the levels of dental decay are among the highest in the world (8–10 DMFT at age 5). Launched in 2012 for an initial three years, its aim was to prevent tooth de- cay by providing preventative dental sealants and oral health education to 60,000 children aged 6–8. The organi- sation is one of several local partners, whichincludetheOralHealthOfficeof the Ministry of Health and the Faculty of Dentistry at the International Uni- versity in Cambodia. The Palestine Dental Association won the award in the innovation cate- gory for its Innovative Oral Health Pro- motion and Early Disease Prevention Delivery Programme at Ministry of Health Maternal and Child Health Care Centres, East Jerusalem/Occupied Pal- estinian Territories. The other project partners are the Faculty of Dentistry at Al-Quds University and the Ministry of Health. The purpose of the project is to de- termine whether a combination of pre- and post-natal preventative and behavioural interventions is effective in preventing early childhood caries in young children with problematic ac- cess to care. The project aims to inte- grate oral health messages into gen- eral health messages and utilise excit- ing well-child visits to introduce oral health promotion and disease preven- tion activities. Theawardcommitteepraisedboth projects for targeting well-defined population groups, as well as for their effectivemethodologyanddistinctfo- cus on oral health education, promo- tion and prevention. It highlighted the sustainability of SEAL CAMBODIA and the innovative approach of the project in Palestine. Cambodian Dental Association (To- warzystwo Stomatologiczne w Kambo- dży, CDA) zdobyło nagrodę w kategorii utrzymania zdrowia za program SEAL CAMBODIA, będący ekscytującą inicja- tywą ochrony zębów u dzieci w Kolum- bii, gdzie wskaźnik próchnicy jest jed- nym z najwyższych na świecie (DMFT wynosi 8-10 u dzieci w wieku 5 lat). Wdrożony on został w 2012 roku na okres 3 lat, a jego celem była ochrona zębów przed próchnicą poprzez stoso- wanie laków oraz wdrażanie edukacji na temat zdrowia jamy ustnej wśród 60000 dzieci w wieku 6–8 lat. CDA jest jednym z kilku lokalnych partnerów, którzy podlegają pod Oral Health Office (Urząd Zdrowia Jamy Ustnej) w Mini- sterstwie Zdrowia oraz Wydział Stoma- tologii Uniwersytetu Międzynarodo- wego w Kambodży. Palestine Dental Association (Towa- rzystwo Stomatologiczne w Palestynie, PDA)zostałonagrodzonewkategoriiin- nowacyjności za “Program Innowacyj- nej Promocji Zdrowia Jamy Ustnej i Do- starczaniaMetodZapobieganiapodpa- tronatem jednostki Ministerstwa Zdro- wia – Centrum Zdrowia Matki i Dziecka, Wschodnia Jerozolima/Okupowane Te- rytoria Palestyńskie.” Innymi partnerami projektu są Wydział Stomatologii Al-Quds oraz Ministerstwo Zdrowia. Celem badania jest ustalenie, czy połączenie działań prewencyjnych i be- hawioralnych stosowanych przed i po urodzeniu dziecka jest skuteczne w za- pobieganiu próchnicy wczesnej u ma- łych dzieci z ograniczonym dostępem do opieki. Celem tego projektu jest włą- czenie haseł dotyczących zdrowia jamy ustnej w te tyczące się zdrowia ogól- nego oraz wprowadzenie do rutyno- wych badań kontrolnych dzieci promo- cję zdrowia jamy ustnej oraz działania zapobiegające chorobom jamy ustnej. Kapituła nagrodziła zarówno pro- jekty za wyodrębnienie określonych grupdocelowych,skutecznąmetodolo- gię badań oraz ukierunkowanie na edu- kację, promocję zdrowia oraz zapobie- ganie chorobom jamy ustnej. Wyróż- niony został projekt SEAL CAMBODIA oraz innowacyjne podejście przedsta- wione w projekcie PDA w Palestynie.
