International Symposium on Dental Hygiene 2019 lädt die südkoreanische Hauptstadt vom 4. bis 7. Juli 2019 ein. The South Korean capital will host the 21st International Symposium on Dental Hygiene 2019 from July 4-7, 2019. Dennoch blickt die Dentalwelt zunächst erst einmal auf Basel, wenn es nun heisst „Welcome to ISDH!“ „ The International Symposium on Dental Hygiene is held every three years and organised under the aus- pices of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH). The events invite dental hygienists, medi- cal professionals and dental practi- tioners worldwide to take part in fur- ther education, thus improving oral as well as general health issues. In order to emphasize the truly global scope of the information and training offered, the next congress will be held on the Asian continent. After the event took place in South Africa in 2013 and is currently under way in Ba- sel (Switzerland), Seoul is the next log- ical choice of venue. Seoul could not be a bigger con- trast to this year’s location: The South Asian metropolis is home to ten mil- lion inhabitants and therefore Korea’s most populous city. It serves as a center business, culture and educa- tion. Thus, many industrial companies have established their headquarters in Soul, among them predominantly chemical products, textiles and cloth- ing, electronic devices, machinery and print. However, businesses employ an average of 6.0 staff members, with only 200 of the more than 75,000 com- panies featuring more than 300 em- ployees. Seoul’s most important indus- trial area, the Korea Export Industrial Complex, is home to 747 businesses, covering a total of 1.98 km2 . Further- more, Korea’s major trading compa- nies and corporate groups, banks and insurance companies have their head- quarters in Seoul. In addition, Seoul is a confidant and proven host for major events, such as the Olympic Summer Games in 1988 and selected games of the Football World Cup in 2002. Planning in Seoul has already started in order to make the next 21st International Symposium on Dental Hygiene 2019 a full success. However, right now the international dental community focuses on the Swiss town of Basel: “Welcome to ISDH!” © PKphotograph /Shutterstock.com
