business 16 IDEM Singapore 2016—8 April With more than 45 years of his- tory as a provider of high-quality restorationsandimplantsolutions to dental practitioners worldwide, Glidewell Laboratories is today recognised primarily for its CAD/CAM processing capabilities which are among the most ad- vanced in the industry. In cooper- ation with Cincinnati dentist and creator of the original tapered im- plant Dr Jack Hahn, the company has now announced the release of theHahnTaperedImplantSystem, whichaddstotheextensivelineof Glidewell dental implant prod- ucts, including the Inclusive Ta- pered Implant. The company’s complete assortment of Inclusive prosthetic components are com- patible with most major implant systemsandsupportthefullrange of traditional and custom restora- tive protocols. The goal behind the new sys- tem was to make implant therapy simpler, more predictable, and ac- cessible to as many people as pos- sible, Glidewell announced. Hav- ingplacedandrestoredthousands of tapered implants during his ex- tensive career, Hahn’s clinical ob- servations and experience have served as the basis of design for former implant systems that are still in widespread use. Deter- mined to address some of the growingdemandsfacedbytoday’s clinicians, he sought an opportu- nity to improve upon his success- ful designs of the past with ad- vanced features intended to sup- port a new generation of patients and practitioners—all at a price thatgivesbacktotheindustryand patientpopulationuponwhichhis career has been built. In order to realise this objective, Dr Hahn partnered with a highly experi- encedteamofdentalimplantengi- neers, researchers and manufac- turers at Glidewell and personally oversawthedesignandcreationof the new system. According to Glidewell, the Hahn Tapered Implant’s wide ar- ray of sizes, root-form shape, and unique thread pattern allow effi- cient placement with a high de- gree of primary stability in all re- gions of the mouth, including fresh extraction sockets. With its blend of time-tested features and contemporary design, the system also aims to provide a comprehen- sive treatment solution for a vari- ety of clinical indications, enhanc- ing the quality of treatment while reducing the cost of care. Engineered and manufactured in the USA, the Hahn Tapered Im- plant System is compatible with popular surgical instrumentation already used in many implant practices.Itssurgicalprotocolwas simplified and includes implant- specific drills that precisely con- trolboththediameteranddepthof the osteotomy. Like the smaller D1000 lab scanner, the new D2000 fea- tures multi-line technology, which processes multiple scan lines in a single shot to improve cavity and impression capture, in ordertoaccuratelyscananalogue impressions sent to the lab by a dentist. According to the company, this eliminates the need for labs having to pour or create a gyp- sum model from the impression which does not only saves them several steps in the workflow but also allows them to print cost ef- fective 3-D models based on the analogueimpressioniftheyneed a physical working model in- stead. The optimised processing speed of the D2000 allows a faster performance and better scanning workflows for several indications. Waiting time between creating or- ders and starting the scan was sig- nificantly shortened, enabling technicians to begin the next scan without having to wait for post- processing, the company said. The software upgrades are available for all relevant 3Shape lab scanner models. Current lab scanner owners will receive the upgrades as a LABcare software update, where applicable, the company said. 3SHAPE, DENMARK www.3shape.com Booth 4Q-12 SAVING MORE TIME WITH 3SHAPE’S NEW LAB SCANNER AtIDEM2016inSingapore,Ger- man dental instrument manufac- turerNTIhasitslatestportfolioon display. Also, the new perfo- rated diamond finishing strips by NTI adapt particu- larly flexibly to the surface of the tooth, which facilitates proxi- mal contouring of Class II, III and IV fillings. Increased reduction is achieved with the help of the per- forations. The round design of the perforations ensures stable strips. A selected grit in three stages al- lows an application according to the situation. The diamond grit guarantees repeated use and con- tinually forms new efficiently cut- ting edges. The stainless steel of the strip furthermore provides stability for repeated preparation and facilitates multiple use. Dental laboratory appliances made from vacuum-formed foils have now become the standard in many areas. Whether bruxism ap- pliances, bleaching trays, sport guards, positioners or anti-snore mouthpieces, instruments are re- quired for the reliable processing of the thermoplastic materials. Perfect laboratory appliances are created after reduction of the ex- cess sections of the foil. Designed for smoothen the surface of all foils, NTI’s SoftPol is available in three levels of abrasion.
