Fig. 2_Prof. emeritus Thomas Albrektsson, Sweden, gave a speech on the scientific works of Prof. Per-Ingvar Brånemark. _More than 2,500 participants attendedthe24th EAOAnnualCongressatStockholm,Sweden,andwere given an update on the state-of-the-art of clinical os- seointegrationbyawiderangeofsymposia,workshops and poster presentations. This year’s congress focused on the work of late Prof. Per-Ingvar Brånemark as well asotherpioneersofdentalimplantology.TheSwedisch doctor and scientist was renowned for paving the way ofmodernimplantologywithhisground-breakingdis- covery of the integration of artificial materials such as titaniuminhumanbonetissue. Forthisreason,aspecialsessiononthefirstcongress daywasdedicatedtothetopic“50YearsofClinicalOs- seointegration”. “Our daily working routine is based on 50yearsofexperiencewithosseointegratedimplants”, statesProf.BjörnKlinge,scientificleaderofthecongress committee. EAO has always been aiming at processing and communicating scientific data for practice-ori- ented implant therapy. That is why its organisers have askedmorethan50expertsfromSwedenandabroadto presenttheirworksanddiscussthelatestscientificfind- ings and clinical concepts in implantology. In addition, newproceduresandtechniqueswereintroducedatvar- ious parallel symposia, which were supported by the leading dental companies. The most up-to-date prod- ucts, including new implants and solutions for an im- proved implant treatment, also formed a major focal point of the event.
