48 I implants3_2015 _Never before has a society placed the focus on the—not always stress-free—collaboration between dentists and dental technicians as the German Associ- ationofDentalImplantology(DGZI)hasinitsthemefor the45th annualcongress,whichistobeheldon2and3 October 2015 in Wiesbaden, Germany. The conference theme is “Dental technology and implantology—Inter- face to success” and this forward-looking claim is re- flected in the programme content. At the Dorint Pallas Wiesbadenhotel,prominentGermanandinternational speakerswillpresentanambitiousprogramme,featur- ing joint papers by implantologists and dental techni- cians.“Thisisgoingtobeoneofthecongresshighlights and will take place at the main podium on Saturday morning,”accordingthechairpersonoftheprogramme committeeandSecondVicePresidentoftheDGZI,Prof. RolandHille,whoemphasisedthattheparticipationof dental technicians brings a refreshing element to the DGZIandthecompositionofitsmembership.Inthenear future, more DGZI projects with dental technicians are planned. DGZI president Prof. Herbert Deppe also pointed out the particular value of collaboration be- tween dentists and dental technicians, which is ex- pressedinthecongressprogramme.“Differentpointsof viewaboutimplantpositioningandprostheticfabrica- tion from multiple angles are conveyed in the pro- gramme.Sometimes,itisonlypossibletomakearealis- tic assessment of the patient as a team.” For him, such cooperation is essential for successful treatment. For conferencechairmanProf.Hille,itisclearthattheDGZI is entering completely new territory. The highlight of thisyear’sevent:forthefirsttimeinits45-yearhistory, theDGZIishostingacongressthatplacesnotonlyim- plantologists but also dental technicians at the centre oftheprogramme. Implantologistsanddentaltechni- cians will come together in the specialist debate, CONTROVERSIAL DGZI, too. This year’s theme is “The edentulousupperjaw—Howcanthebestpossiblesolu- tion be achieved? A challenge to dentists and dental technicians”. Together with DGZI First Vice President andTreasurerProf.RolfVollmer,Prof.Hillehasagainse- curedtheparticipationofwell-knownJapanesespeak- ers.
