The partnership was announced here during the AGD’s annual meet- ing. “In the same way a business might display membership signs in their storefront, soon you will have a method of promoting your pro- fessional development and unique expertise by way of digital badges,” 2015–2016 AGD President W. Mark Donald, DMD, MAGD, told AGD 2015 attendees during the opening session on Thursday. Credly partners include employ- ers and trainers; professional asso- ciations; credentialing and licensing boards; schools, colleges and uni- versities; app and content provid- ers; cultural institutions; community and youth programs; and events and conferences to “validate progressive levels of participation,” according to the Credly website, credly.com. “At the conclusion of this confer- ence, each of you will receive a digital badge,” AGD 2014–2015 President W. CarterBrown,DMD,FAGD,toldattend- ees, also during the opening session. He said all attendees will receive an email asking them to accept and share the digital badge that they have achieved. “These digital badges will provide members with a 21st-century method of describing one’s affiliations and commitments,” Donald said. According to Brown, the concept of offering digital badges to AGD members was explored during the past year through the AGD Dental Education Council and Education Summit, and the digital badge system “will be phased in over the next year or two.” “Look for more information in the future as to how you can curate and display your achievements,” Brown said.
