AACD San Francisco May 08

By Mayer Levitt, DMD, FAGD n Thirty months ago, I wrote a blog post(youcanseeitatblog.jodena.com) about a company called Six Month Smiles. At that time, I was very enthused after attending a two-day course for general dentists that provided hands- on learning for short-term orthodon- tics (STO). STO is defined as cosmetically focused orthodontic treatment per- formed in less than nine months with esthetic brackets and wires. Five of my clients at that time attended the seminar with me, and all of them were thrilled. Since then, another 10 clients have attended the course, and three more are signed up toattendthecourseintheBostonarea scheduled in April. I continue to hear rave reviews about the information taught at the course and about the online con- tinuous support and mentoring that is provided by experienced instruc- tors to all attendees.  I felt then — and continue to feel now — that Six Month Smiles is often a better, quicker and always less expensive option to other methods. Having options and the abil- ity to present choices to your patients greatly enhances case acceptance. Six Month Smiles has grown dra- matically since I attended my course in2012.Thecompanyactuallystarted offering courses in 2011, and as of today, more than 6,000 dentists in the United States have been trained and have completed 80,000 cases. A terrific and new feature is that you will very soon be able to use an intraoral scanner to send digital scans instead of traditional impres- sions. The company has also made major strides in progressive adver- tising and enhanced social media presence to make the general public aware of its name and what it does. I was told that in the last 30 days, morethan5millionpotentialpatients viewed Six Month Smiles advertis- ing, 2.5 million potential patients viewed social media posts and 30,000 potential patients visited the patient education section of the Six Month Smiles website looking for a provider in their area. As I said in my original post, if you are a restorative dentist who loves to create beautiful smiles and has an ability to visualize cases, this ortho technology can, and will be, a fabulous addition to your armamen- tarium. You will quickly be able to move teeth into proper position so that bonding, veneers and more tradi- tional crown and bridge or implants can be performed. Go online to www.sixmonthsmiles. com for more information — you will not regret it! exhibitors6 AACD — Friday, May 8, 2015 ‘Almost three years later, I continue to be impressed’ By Kettenbach LP Staff n Visalys® Core, the new product from Kettenbach LP, represents the nextgenerationofcorebuild-upmate- rials. The most recent addition to the Visalys family is a dual-curing core build-up material with unique active- connect-technology (ACT) to ensure a reliable bond with all common adhesives — without an additional activator. The product was first unveiled at this year’s International Dental Show in Cologne, Germany. Visalys Core is the first core build- up material from Kettenbach. The fluoride-containing, dual-curing com- posite was developed for the fabrica- tion of radiopaque core build-ups and core fillings and for cementing root posts. The product incorporates ACT, which is unique in the market. This enables the material to bond actively with all common light-curing and dual-curing, single-step and multi- step adhesives, without an additional activator. The advantage for users is that it allows them to use the bonding agent they are used to — no matter whether it is a light-curing or dual-curing, a single- or multi-bottle system. A firm foundation According to the company, Visalys Core ensures easy and reliable han- dling with excellent positional stabil- ity. At the same time, it exhibits good flowability and low extrusion force. The excellent compressive strength results in a stable monoblock and a secure bond. Optional light-curing allows the procedure to be continued imme- diately, according to the company, and reliable self-curing provides for dependable strength even on the cav- ity floor and in root canals. Excellent polishing characteristics ensure pre- cise preparation; even without light- curing, the smear layer is minimal. The product is also free of bisphenol A and its derivates. Visalys Core is available in dentin and white shades in a 5 ml double syringe and in a 25 ml cartridge. For detailed information about Visalys Core, visit the Kettenbach website at www.kettenbachusa.com.
