today EuroPerio8 London 3 June, 2015

The EuroPerio Congress has established itself as the world’s leading conference in periodontology and implant dentistry. EuroPerio8 will take place from 3 to 6 June 2015 at the ExCeL London international exhibition and convention centre.

Elected EFP President Prof. Phoebus Madianos from Greece stated, “A major priority for EFP is the general recognition of peri- odontology as a dental specialty in Europe. Therefore, the organisa- tion is working with all relevant parties to promote the rationale of periodontology being recognised amongregulators, licensingbodies and policymakers across Europe. Closely related to this goal of full recognitionisthecreationofacom- mon curriculum for postgraduate studies in periodontology, pro- motedbytheEFPaccordingtostan- dardised criteria, a project aimed at enabling free mobility of peri- odontal professionals and citizens across the EU, the ultimate aim be- ing to improve the quality of treat- ment and people’s general health.” Currently, the EFP represents 16,000 dental professionals, who belong to its 29 member associa- tions. Its last congress brought more than 7,000 visitors to Vienna in Austria in 2012. For more information, news and updates please visit the event website at www.efp.org/ europerio8/. MIS Implants Technologies launchedanewimplantataspecial event in London yesterday that promises immediate biological benefits for better treatment out- comes. The new V3 is a multi-use implantsuitableforawiderangeof surgicalscenarios, accordingtothe implant solutions provider, and is ideal in anterior regions, as well as in regions where space and bone may be limited and good aesthetic outcomes are essential. Designed in collaboration with leading clinicians, including Prof. Nitzan Bichacho and Dr Yuval Ja- coby, both from Israel, as well as Dr Eric Van Dooren from Belgium, the development of V3 took two years to complete, MIS Product ManagerEladGinatstated.Hesaid thatitwillbeavailabletovisitorsto EuroPerio8 from Thursday and to cliniciansworldwideintheupcom- ing months. “MIS is immensely proud of our innovative position in the global implantsindustry, whichhasledto the development of the unique V3 implant system. It’s a widely antic- ipated evolutionary next step in dental implant performance, de- signed for the benefit of clinicians and their patients all over the world,” Ginat stated. ThedesignofV3aimstoprovide bothspecialistsandgeneralpracti- tionerswithoptimumflexibilityin implant planning and placement for a restorative-driven approach. In particular, the triangular shape of the coronal portion is intended to encourage bone regeneration and to gain greater volume of bone in support of stable surrounding soft tissue for restorations with im- proved aesthetics. According to Ginat, the neck provides solid anchorage at three points in the crestal zone while forming three compression-free gaps at the sides (between the implant and the os- teotomy), thus favouring condi- tions for better osseointegration, such as high primary stability, re- duced bone compression and cre- stal bone resorption. The gaps en- courage blot clot formation at the bone-implant interface to promote the initial scaffold-building pro- cess for bone growth and allow more space for blood pooling and the estab- lishment of a stable blood clot. This way, V3 pro- vides clinicians with advantages from the start, achieving a greater volume of bone and soft tissue at the onset of implant placement. Ahigh-performanceconicalcon- nection implant with platform switching, V3 also features a vari- able thread and self-tapping capa- bility, micro-rings, a concave inter- thread for maximum bone-implant contact, as well as a flat apex sup- porting immediate placement en- gagement. Ginat added that clini- cians can enjoy all of these design benefits without having to learn new proto- cols. Furthermore, a dedi- cated surgical kit makes proce- duresespeciallysimple,safeandac- curate, resulting in ease of place- ment for the dentist and shorter recovery time for patients, he ex- plained.
