The event high- lighted employment opportunities within the dental profession, enabling companies to connect with pupils, trainees, students and other qualified and interested individuals. The event took place at the Speak- ers’CornerinHall3.1andincludedon- stage company presentations, as well as a Recruitment Lounge for personal meetingsanddiscussions.Fivecompa- niestookpartinthisCareerDaygiving their presentations on stage: Sirona, Ivoclar Vivadent, VITA, Schütz Dental and Medit. “The Career Day offers potential employees a great chance to learn about the opportunities on offer, and for companies to introduce them- selves. We heard about the event and knew that we wanted to take part and present Ivoclar Vivadent, because at trade fairs like this, tomorrow’s em- ployees are to be found,” said Corina Grabmann, HR Business Partner at Ivoclar Vivadent. Finding and recruiting qualified and experienced employees is an in- creasingly important topic in the den- talindustryandthefieldofHumanRe- sources (HR) is a key factor for many companies. “Two years ago at the pre- vious IDS, we already noticed that the visitors were very interested in the field of Human Resources. Thus, we are very happy that this year, there is a Career Day at IDS for the first time andthatwehavetheopportunitytobe a part of it and to show what an excel- lent employer Sirona is,” stated Tanja Dormann, responsible for Recruiting and HR Marketing at Sirona. Companies are trying to win fu- ture employees by offering attractive career possibilities, not only region- ally, but also globally. “We noticed, that IDS is becoming increasingly in- ternational.Thiswasreflectedinsome of the lectures during the Career Day which are given in English. Sirona uses this opportunity to get in touch with potential employees from all around the world. Today, we already talked to interested visitors from Por- tugal, India and Saudi Arabia,” Dor- mann said. The employers within the dental industry are not only looking for den- tists and dental technicians, but also for qualified personnel such as chemists, engineers and computer programmers. “The Career Day is a great opportunity for companies, be- cause—especially in the dental indus- try—it’s sometimes hard to find com- petent employees with the right qual- ifications.Wehopethatthiseventwill helpustosearchforpotentialemploy- ees in fields like sales or R&D,” said Maria Schmidt, an employee at VITA. However, not only the profes- sional competence of an applicant is important. “In addition to profes- sional skills, we place a special value on soft skills such as self-motivation, an interest in personal development, intercultural competence, and the willingness to think outside the box,” explainedTobiasArnold,HRBusiness Partner at Sirona.
