business50 IDS 2015 – 13. März 13 March AD A former subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, RAY has announced a newinitiativetobecomeanindepend- ent manufacturer of market-leading dental imaging technologies. RAY’s strategic decision to leave the Sam- sung Electronics venture fund pro- vides the company the freedom to focus on the core passion of its founder, Dr. Sangchul Lee, in building a flex- ible,dynamicandin- novative dental im- agingtechnologies. Currently, the founder of RAY purchased the main stocks from Samsung to possess the company and this founder-owned system allows RAY to make faster decisions and progress toward the global mar- ket. RAY’s singular focus on the den- tal market and significant investment by a top venture capital firm with ties in Silicon Valley will lead to substan- tialgrowth, particularlyinthecrucial US and Europe markets, which com- prises70%ofalldentalimagingsales. When it comes to technology, RAY keeps the intellectual property, researchanddevelopmentcapability, upcoming product pipeline and the key employee talent. This is why Samsung selected RAY as the first subsidiarytostartuphealthcarebusi- ness. With the approved technology, RAYcouldbuildmosteffectivequality control system and maintain the capability during the project with Samsung to introduce the first X-ray unit in medical field. Based on these remarkablemixtures,RAYintroduced RAYSCAN ␣ (Alpha) in 2012 and the revenue has increased almost a double last 2 years. RAY is showcasing its latest extra-oral im- aging system, the RAYSCAN␣+(Alpha Plus), here at IDS. This product is highly focused to realise lower dose with free collima- tion system and LED visible guide light. Besides, the state-of-art technology allows faster scanning time (4.9 sec) and 3-D reconstruction (1.5 sec) which are the first introduc- tion in dental imaging ever before. Along with the recent launch the new RIOSensor Digital Radiography System,anintra-oralsensorwithded- icated X-ray imaging software, these new imaging platforms will be an- other contribution to the company’s broad product line-up. The trend towards a fully digital workflow has become ubiquitous. The last gap in the treatment of teeth with implant restorations is now closed. The new, highly cross-linked polymer blockTelioCADA16completesthedig- ital workflow to include temporary restorations in implant dentistry. For the first time, a block with a pre-fabri- cated interface is available, which al- lows the direct fabrication of hybrid implant restorations for single-tooth temporization. Moreover, the block enables CEREC and inLab users to create customized monolithic hybrid abutment crowns. The pre-fabricated interfaces in sizes S and L are tailored to the requirements of titanium bases from Sirona. The completed restora- tions can be directly cemented on the Ti base. As a result of the industrial pro- duction process, temporary hybrid abutment crowns made of Telio CAD A16 fit extremely accurately. There- fore, the treatment time for both users and patients is reduced. The hybrid abutment crown is easy to ad- justandprovidesaclearideaofwhat the permanent restoration will look like. In addition, a proper emergence profile can be ideally developed and shaped. The restoration can be incor- porated immediately after the im- plantation procedure or after the healing phase. Telio CAD A16 forms an ideal basisforlong-term,implant-supported restorationsfabricatedwithIPSe.max CADAbutmentSolutions.Theself-cur- ing luting composite Multilink Hybrid Abutment ensures an excellent bond of the restoration to the titanium base.
