news 09IDS 2015 – 12. At the IDS, Nobel Biocare introduced a completely cement-free solution for use in occlusal treatments. The system, NobelParallel Conical Connection (CC), comprises new wide-platform (WP) im- plants as well as restorative options es- pecially for the rear jaw. On Tuesday, Nobel Biocare an- nounced the development of a cement- free method for the treatment of oc- clusal areas. This new method makes useoftwo5.5mmdiameterimplantsfor the rear jaw area: the NobelParallel CC WP and the NobelActive WP, both of which were designed to optimize the emergence profile of molars. Immedi- ate loading is meant to shorten the time it takes to complete definitive restora- tion. The screw-retained implant made of monolithic zirconium dioxide com- bines robustness with restorative flexi- bility. This is meant to avoid the risks as- sociated with excess cement. The new, cement-free, fully contoured implant crown—NobelProcera FCZ—with an an- gled screw channel is the key element in this treatment method. Moreover, since no veneer is required, there is no danger of veneer splitting. Access to the occlusal areas is facilitated by an angled screw channel (ASC) in combi- nation with a pick-up function and omni-grip tooling. The FCZ implant crown is available in eight different shades. To round out this new treatment, Nobel Biocare also developed its PEEK Healing and PEEK Temporary abut- ments, which anatomically match the contours of the molars. As Hans Geiselhöringer, Vice Presi- dent at Nobel Biocare, said at the IDS press conference, “We don’t simply sup- ply individual components, we provide anall-roundsystem,”becausethegoalis satisfied patients who are able to enjoy the use of their implants over the long term. This would be achieved through a WP option, in which both the NobelPar- allel CC and the NobelActive in shorter lengths of 7 mm were made available and which would consequently serve to protect the nerves in the jaw. This launch marks the kick-off of the company’s anniversary year. It has now been 50 years since the first im- planttreatmentin1965,beginningape- riod in which the company has con- stantly pioneered new innovations in the field.
