today IDS Cologne 2015 Show Preview

More visitors than ever will be at- tendingtheInternationalDentalShow (IDS) in Germany, representatives of the organiser Koelnmesse and the As- sociation of German Dental Manufac- turers announced at a press confer- ence last December in Bergisch Glad- bachnearCologne.Theysaidthatover 125,000 professionals are expected at the world’s largest dental showcase, which will be held again in a month’s time, to learn about the latest develop- ments and trends in dentistry. WithregistrationsinearlyDecem- ber already surpassing those from the 2013 show, a record number of dental companieshavealreadyregisteredfor the five-day event. Owing to the in- crease, the show will occupy an addi- tional hall at the Koelnmesse fair- ground, extending the overall exhibi- tion space to 150,000 m2 for the first time. According to Koelnmesse Chief Operating Officer Katharina C. Hamma,almosteveryfourthcompany exhibiting at IDS is from outside Ger- many. “The high level of internationality and the wide range of exhibits are unique worldwide. This is why the In- ternational Dental Show is a must-at- tend event for anyone who is involved in the dental business,” she said. Chairman of the Association of German Dental Manufacturers Dr Martin Rickert said that, while the show will cover the entire spectrum of dental products, a special focus will be on the ongoing digitalisation in dentistry and linking of different systems for better diagnostics and treatment.Thelatestdevelopments, including new and improved filling materials in conventional fields like restorative dentistry, will be on display as well. As a first, IDS 2015 will have Career Day, which is in- tended to serve as a meeting plat- form for the industry and young dentists. Professional visitors will also have the opportunity to experi- ence the use of new technologies as part of the novel Know-how Tours, which are being organised in collab- oration with two well-known dental practices in Cologne. Proven fea- tures, like the Speakers’ Corner lec- ture forum and Dealers’ Day on the first day of the show, will be contin- ued. HeldeverytwoyearsintheRhine city, IDS is one of Germany’s oldest trade shows and is organised by the dentalindustryinGermany.Inrecent years, it has developed into one of the most important global exhibitions for dental products and services, attract- ing professionals from over 140 coun- tries.
