Local experts and specialists from university spoke about new, innovative technologies, treatment and therapy concepts. A further topic of the congress was the recently establishedcooperationbetweenStraumannandbotiss. Already in the first half of the year, botiss and Straumann an- nounced their cooperation in the area of bone graft substitutes withinthecontextoftheITIannualcongressinGeneva.Afteranin- tensivephaseofcoordination,atapressconferenceinBerlinbotiss announcedthatfromnowon,botisscanfullysupplytheworldwide biggest implant manufacturer in nearly all European countries and in America. Prior to this announcement, the logistical chain for the sensitive medical products was continuously expanded and em- ployeesofbothcompanieswerethoroughlytrainedontheproducts. Furthermore,botisswillhelptodistributeEmdogain®—aproductfor tissueregenerationbyStraumann—inGermanyfromnowon. Straumann CEO Marc Gadola emphasised the specialty of this deal: “With this cooperation we have exclusive rights to distribute botiss products in nearly all European countries and America. Fur- thermore,wecanalsoofferbotissproductsinGermany.”OliverBie- lenstein, Managing Partner, botiss biomaterials, explained why this isaquitestrongrelationship:“Wehavethemostcomprehensiveof- ferofclinicallyprovenmaterialsfororaltissueregeneration.Thisim- pliesamongothersmembranesforguidedtissueandboneregener- ation,afullsetofbovine,allogeneicandsyntheticbonegraftsubsti- tutesaswellasproductsforsoft-tissuehealing.”Thecooperationbe- tween the two companies will not be restricted to the area of products.As“TheStraumann/botissbiomaterialsYoungPeriodontal Professional of the Year”-award shows, the cooperation also in- cludes a conceptual level.
