I meetings _From 25 to 27 September 2014, more than 4,000 people gathered for the 23rd European Associa- tionforOsseointegration’s(EAO)scientificmeetingin Rome. Dentists and industry specialists came from acrosstheworldtohearinternationalexpertsdescrib- ingthelatestdevelopmentsinimplantdentistry. _Interactive sessions ThethreedaymeetinginRomefeaturedarenases- sions exploring ways of simplifying dental implant treatment without compromising quality or pre- dictability. This year’s event saw a number of changes tothecongressformat.Forinstance,themainsessions were held under a theme that ran throughout the whole event for the first time. In order to render the sessions more interactive, speakers presented in the formofadebate,offeringdifferentapproachestothe sameclinicalproblem.Attendeeshadtheopportunity to contribute using an innovative voting system via their smartphones to express their opinion on a par- ticularquestion. _Awards for scientific research Therewerealsosevensessionswherethebestnew scientificresearchwasshowcased.With617accepted submissions, a record number of abstracts were ac- cepted for the congress in Rome.
