With Riva Self Cure HV, the Australian company SDI is pre- senting a high viscosity, ex- tremely strong self-curing glass ionomer restorative at IDEM, which is strong enough to resist surface indentation and to with- stand substantial mechanical loads. Among other things, it can be bulk placed and does not ad- here to your instruments. In addi- tion,RivaSelfCureHV’spackabil- ity is supposed to make restora- tions easy to shape and contour. Riva Self Cure HV can also be used to replace missing dentin. According to SDI, it is the best dental material currently avail- able that virtually mimics dentin. Sensitivity is non-existent and no adhesive is required, the company added. Riva Self Cure HV releases sig- nificantamountoffluorideresult- ing in increased anti-cariogenic propertiesforimprovedlongevity of the restoration. It is currently available in shades A1, A2, A3 and A3.5. Com- pared to other panoramic devicesinwhichthesharpest areas must be selected manu- ally, the VistaPano features Dürr’sS-Pantechnologyforim- proved sharpness. It acquires multiple layers of images from asingleexposurethataresplit into fragments. From these fragments, the ones with the best focus areselectedandrecompiled in order to generate the panoramic image. With the help of this technology, all important diagnostic infor- mation, such as roots in the upper and lower jaw bones, are sharply displayed, ac- cording to the German man- ufacturer. Complying with the ALARA (As Low As Reason- ably Achievable) principle, the VistaPano features a quick-scan mode that al- lows clinicians to produce a panoramic image in just seven seconds. Despite the lower radiation dose, Dürr claims that images pro- duced with this mode are still of good quality thanks to the use of a build-in CsI sensor. The exposed area and radiation dose can be further reduced by 56 per cent with imaging modes for children. With four chil- drenimagingmodes included, t he VistaPano offers a total 17 imaging modes. There are options for taking half-side images (right and left) as well as front im- ages. According to the company, the imaging of orthogonal bite- wings, temporomandibu- lar (TMJ) joints for the purpose of functional di- agnosis and sinuses is also possible with the device. An intuitive 7 inch touch screen display is supposed to allow users quick access and a clear viewofallthesettingfora smooth and uninterupted workflow.Owingtoahigh tolerancetopositioninger- rors and three laser guide lines thatmarktheexactorientationof the Frankfurt horizontal plane, median sagittal plane and film plane, patients can be positioned faster and more acurately in the device, Dürr said. Moreover, face-to-face positioning without mirrors allows clinicians and pa- tients to have direct eye contact. In order to simplify the doc - umentation process, the device comes with the imaging software DBSWIN, which allows to store images and access data from dif- ferent workstation through its networking capabilities. In addi- tion, it can be connected to third partysoftwaresuchasVistaEasy, ImageBridge or TWAIN.
