business18 Show Preview IDS Cologne 2009 TKD Tekne Dental from Italy will present its new brushless micromotor TKD Definitive Led with LED il- lumination at IDS Cologne. Designed for dental profes- sionals who require flexi- bility and excellent reliabil- ity, TKD Definitive LED can be installed on most dental units without need for main- tenance, the company says. Without the typically used carbon brushes the new mi- cromotor will offer high per- formance, efficiency and ex- traordinary durability, they added. The LED illumina- tion is supposed to run over a time period of 10 years and provides a “cool” light which eliminates any chro- matic distortion of oral tis- sues. Smaller in size than other brushless micromotors, TKD Definitive Led will be easy to handle and is suited to fre- quent use. Designed and built exclusively at TKD’s research centre, the standard control module used with the micro- motor is also compact and simple to install. According to the company, a wide range of speedsfrom2,000–40,000rpm and software allow vector control over TKD Definitive Led to ensure simplicity, flex- ibility and linear function- ality. Since 1969, TKD is supply- ing the dental sector with state-of-the-art instruments, such as micromotors, tur- bines, couplings, hoses, sca- lers and curing lights. In this case, a generator in the contra-an- gle handpiece acts as a self- sufficient energy source. The functionalprincipleissimilar to that of a bicycle dynamo. The self-generated LED light is neutrally-coloured and many times brighter than a conventional halogen light. The LED light also has a larger illumination field than con- ventional halogen light. In addition, the LED light has a much longer service life. The new Alegra contra-an- gle handpieces offer proven “made in Austria” W&H qual- ity: robust and low on noise and wear. Alegra instruments are thermo washer disin- fectable and sterilizable. The data matrix code makes it easier to identify products and trace hygiene and main- tenance processes. The laser- engraved code is a special type of barcode. It means that if the instrument is scanned it can be classified automatically. Their collections do aim not only satisfy the need for better ergonomics but also to create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere for dentists and dental techni- cians. The Alu Spaces range, for example, tries to optimise space in the surgery with upper cabinets that hang down from the two sides. The Alu Kap collection offers a new shape with plenty of details. According to the company, the worktop of this collections looks particular- ly attractive and has the sink moulded in one unique piece. TheirbasicWinncollection was also recently expanded with Winn Prestige that has a minimalistic design but at the same time is functional and rich in chromatic solutions. The glass worktop of this range will be available in 12 different colours, the com- pany said. They added that it is the perfect furniture collec- tion to make workplaces look attractive without investing too much. Edarredo is located in Az- zano Decimo in Italy. They de- velop and produce furniture for dental surgery and labo- ratory. The company was one of the first in the dental field to use CAD/CAM systems for both manufacturing and the planning of the dental sur- geries and laboratories. They also first offered steel furni- ture, as well as furniture ele- vated from the floor or ste- rilisation modules mounted on wheels. The sink over the top, thus not integrated, and the patented crystal worktop with light under-top also belong to their range of innovations. In addition, they are very easy to maintain and sterilise, the company says. Research was carried out in the last two years for alter- native technologies to com- bine the antibacterial proper- ties of silver to those of the cotton fibres. Unfortunately, no solutions were found with- out leaving the resistance and transpiration of natural fibres behind. Therefore, the research was focused on test- ing natural fibres and their own antibacterial permanent properties which combined to cotton guarantee the re- quirements the company has put on their fabric quality. BioShield fabrics, which are shown at IDS Cologne, are 100 per cent natural, transpir- ing and permanent antibac- terial. In addition, it is antista- tic, non-allergenic and steril- izable. The company says that they are also very economic and durable. Thanks to its yearlong ex- perience in tailoring, Pastelli is able to realise any request in regard to colour, size, com- fort and style.
