MILLER NEW YORK UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY INTERDISCIPLINARY CHALLENGES AND TREATMENT OPTIONS: C M Y CM MY CY CMY K T he “Current Concepts in Amer- ican Dentistry”, international program was established at New York University College of Den- tistry in 1981. This popular program now has over 3,500 graduates from 26 coun- tries. These customized educational op- portunities are designed for international dental groups to provide a deeper knowl- edge and understanding of specific areas of dentistry. The teaching staff includes NYU College of Dentistry faculty, alumni and outstanding educators from other institu- tions and private practice. Program topics and content are determined by the special needs of the group in consultation with the Assistant Dean for Continuing Education. In addition to lecture and clinical observa- tions, participants are required to complete a written report based on two clinical cases in their private practices. All programs are in English. To maximize the learning expe- rience, sessions in New York City are limit- ed to a minimum of 25 and a maximum of 50 participants. Individual dentists not part of a group may join an existing group on a space available basis and with prior approval of the Assistant Dean for Continuing Education. At- tendance in New York City is mandatory in fulfilling the program requirements. Five sessions of which three weeks of atten- dance must be at New York University Col- lege of Dentistry in New York City. Also, two additional sessions must be complet- ed either at New York University College of Dentistry or at any of our international programs scheduled at locations through- out the world. Participants are encouraged to complete the program in a timely fash- ion recommended not to exceed two years. During the final week at New York Univer- sity College of Dentistry, participants are required to document and formally present two clinical cases performed and complet- ed in their private practices. This final writ- ten report with the two clinical cases must be referenced with appropriate scientific literature. Recommended report length is 10-15 pages. This report may be in English or another language if English is not the language selected a one-page summary in English must be included. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, a certificate of achievement will be awarded by NYU Linhart Continu- ing Dental Education Program. The final decision on meeting all requirements is the responsibility of the Assistant Dean for Continuing Education. 12 EvENtS Dental tribune Middle East & Africa Edition | November 2012
