Dental Tribune United Kindom Edition

Four heads are better than one Durr Dental has ignited innovation once again by taking a simple technology concept and refining it to its maximum potential. The intra oral camera has provided both dentists and their patients with a revealing window into the realm of dental disease, conferring greater transparency and more lucid communication. Durr has consolidated a range of technologies to ensure this invaluable tool has its most sophisticated application yet. One of the most versatile aspects of the VistaCam iX is the interchangeable head mechanism. Four heads are available, one providing high-resolution images of the oral environment; a macro head for close-ups of up to 100x zoom; a Proof head for caries diagnosis with a colour-coded scale, and an LED curing light. Data transmission is fully digital through a USB port to a PC, or can function as a stand-alone version without a PC. Durr has also set a benchmark in its design, winning the Red Dot Design Award in the process. The ergonomic head rotates a full 360 degrees and a motion sensor automatically switches the camera on and off to ensure efficient usage. Its smooth finish enables easy disinfection and sheathing for cross infection. The VistaCam iX offers functionality in a single device with multiple applications. Preparing for retirement and selling your practice When retirement is looming, most practitioners will want to ensure the process of selling their practice goes as smoothly as possible. Spending time to assess contractual obligations and other relevant issues can help this objective enormously. It is imperative that any practice owner takes account of contractual obligations to any colleagues or partners who may have a first right of refusal. It should also be taken into account that changes to the law mean that the ultimate buyer of a practice no longer has to be a dentist. Agreeing a sale of the practice can be an exciting moment, however this generally can spark a raft of due diligence enquiries in relation to the practice and property, and it is important that you are in a position to answer these when a potential buyer’s solicitor raises them. Commercial property is often held on a leasehold basis. Lenders are increasingly unwilling to provide loans for premises with leases any shorter than 15 years. It is also important that your accounts are up to date and in good order that you have a current copy of your PCT contract. The NobelReplace® Conical Connection combines the well-proven NobelReplace® tapered implant body, which mimics the shape of a natural tooth root, with a secure internal conical connection that gives a tighter seal between the abutment and implant interface, resulting in higher soft tissue stability and maintaining crestal bone. It also provides maximum restorative flexibility, as it is suitable for use with standard abutments and individualised CAD/CAM NobelProceraTM abutments. The amalgamation of the popular NobelReplace® implant and conical connection with platform shifting increases soft tissue volume and maintains the ease-of-use that clinicians have come to expect with NobelReplace®. The second new implant NobelReplace® Platform Shift incorporates the easy-to-use element of the internal tri-channel connection together with the benefits of platform shifting. The tri-channel connection offers accurate and predictable abutment replacement, as exact positioning can be one of only three set positions. It provides tactile feedback and ease of alignment. NobelReplace® Platform Shift features an improved soft tissue interface, which maximises soft tissue volume, creating more natural-looking aesthetics. I was present with plans, drawings and detailed projected costs well ahead of each stage of the project. I felt informed, valued and most importantly listened to,” says Karen. “The end result is a project of wonderful design that reflected my vision entirely and the opportunity to work with an excellent team.” Roger Gullidge Design is a specialist design and project management consultancy specialising in the dental sector.
