Originally intro- duced to improve practice life and efficiency, nowhere is this more apparent than in the features of the newest product additions to Acteon’s imaging portfolio. Each is truly innovative and, when used in combination, caters for all your digital needs. In this issue, we focus on the Soprolife. Next month will feature the X-Mind 3D and we will finish with the Optime intraoral imaging plate system. SoproLife is a light-induced fluorescence evaluator, which is used for the diagnosis and treat- ment of caries. Not only does it enable you to see what was once invisible to your eyes, it also al- lows you to develop a minimally invasive approach. Developing less invasive dentistry constitutes a response to the legitimate ex- pectation of an increasing num- ber of patients. Soprolifeisalsoanoutstanding tool for communicating with pa- tientsinordertoprovidethemwith guidance regarding appropriate preventive and therapy choices. Two types of vision This is the only camera in the world which offers two types of vision. Daylight mode allows you to get acquainted with images in bluelightbycomparingthemwith images under white light. This mode allows specific observation of the structures surrounding the tooth, such as the periodontium, while the blue light focuses on the tissues of the tooth. The image quality is unsurpassed and clear immediately – whichever position you select – because of the very large depth of field. Differentiation of diseased versus healthy tissue enables you to make precise preparations that are less invasive and allow you to control waterproofing of the walls before filling. In treatment aid mode, it focuses on dentine, while indiagnosisaidmode, itfocuseson enamel structure. The Soprolife is idealforprosthetics,asyoucande- termine the quality of the tissues before sealing the restorations. Dr Michel Blique explains some of the ways Soprolife works and benefits you in practice. This system alerts the practi- tioner at a very early stage about the presence of very small lesions (less than 0.05mm in size), even those not forming cavities, and makes it possible to assess their development stage. The fluores- cence images gathered enable the healthy tissues to be differentiated from affected or infected tissues that have experienced a loss of structure due to decay. Lesions can thus be treated on a minimal basis by better identifying the healthy tissues, by using a day- light mode to achieve better un- derstanding, enlarging the image in order to see better, and by using fluorescence for better diagnosis. The objective of this article is to show a few clinical examples in which fluorescence facilitates choosing a form of dentistry that is more targeted and more mind- ful of dental structures. An imaging trio to make your dentistry more effective
