In most cases only a single NiTi instrument is needed per root canal or tooth. Dr Zahedi of Sidwell Dental Surgery, Exeter, recently discovered the benefits of WaveOne Endodontic files, and has been impressed by the amount of time the files save him in his work:“WaveOne has been a great addition to my practice. The ease and speed with which I can carry out my work has been significantly improved. This saves me a great deal of time. “The fact I generally only ever have to use one file also makes WaveOne extremely economical. “I think what I like most about WaveOne is that the files are extremely easy to use and very reliable – it’s a system I really feel I can trust.” The WaveOne NiTi file system from DENTSPLY is an exciting development in the preparation of root canals. With decreased shaping times and improved instrument control, WaveOne is the new standard in Endodontic files. It’s incredibly useful to have an integrated system. “I like the ‘Patient Journey’ feature, as it aids patients’ understanding of the treatments they’re undertaking and greatly improves my communication with them. “The training was very good, enabling staff members who generally struggle with computers to quickly become competent. Members of the Carestream aftercare team have returned since then to update training on new features, and train new staff. When she needed to recruit for a full-time nurse, she went to the UK web-based Dental Gateway. “Using Dental Gateway, we were able to quickly reach the stage where we could carry out interviews and have now shortlisted two people,”she says. “It was useful because we didn’t need to advertise, which is time consuming. It was so much easier to go to Dental Gateway and see who was looking for work in this area. We could also see the experience and qualifications that each of the candidates had. “Normally, we place an advert and it’s a long process where you have to wait for people to apply. Being able to go straight to relevant CVs made it all so much quicker and easier. “The website is very user-friendly and had all the information I needed. I will certainly be using Dental Gateway again in the future and would recommend the service to others.” For more information visit www.dentalgateway.co.uk or call us on 0845 094 403 SDR™ – easy to use DENTSPLY is recognised worldwide for its development of revolutionary new products which includes SDR™ (Smart Dentine Replacement). During these tough economic conditions, dental practices in common with every business have to keep a watchful eye on costs. Because DENTSPLY recognises that small things can make a big difference, it offers practices the chance to save money without compromising on quality through the DENTSPLY Rewards website www.dentsplyrewards.co.uk. Kay Hume, Practice Manager at Reilly, Clunie and Barrett in Dumbarton says, “The DENTSPLY Rewards website is easy to use, we’ve had no problems at all and the delivery of products is always prompt and reliable. Because we make savings through the rewards points and the dealer discount, it’s really very useful.” For each DENTSPLY purchase made via the Rewards website, the practice earns valuable pounds that can be spent on other DENTSPLY products. Many practitioners find this a useful way to trial new DENTSPLY products without committing to major expenditure or large orders. Practitioners will learn about the emotional reasons behind dental phobia as well as methods of reducing patient anxiety such as medication, sedation and hypnosis. The course will include advice on treating those people who may be particularly prone to dental phobia such as children and the disabled and will offer practical and transferable advice on helping them to overcome their fears. Led by experts in the field, the Fear of Dentistry Programme will give practitioners the opportunity to present case studies in an informal setting and discuss various approaches to dental phobia with their peers. It is hoped that attendance at this course will allow dentists to gain a fuller understanding and appreciation of the problems faced by dental phobics so that they can offer support and guidance in practice.
