Dental Tribune United Kingdom Edition

A s 2011 has drawn to a close, what better time to look back, take stock and begin making plans for the year ahead? How might you improve your practice and which area is most in need of attention? If you are planning to rebrand your practice, it makes sense to think about a few things in advance. Eve- rywhere we look we are sur- rounded by logos in a myriad of shapes and colours, but what kind of image would match the vision you have for your practice? Any practice offering and promoting aesthetic dentistry must, by definition, present it- self in an aesthetically appeal- ing way. If you want to give the impression of a clean, modern and advanced dental practice, forget any image featuring an etching of the building and an antiquated font. There is a maze of design options out there, but which direction should you choose? When rebranding your practice, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is to select the right designer for you. If you es- tablish a good rapport at the beginning and ‘connect’ with your chosen designer this will help the creative process. There’s an instinctive ‘know- ing’ when the chemistry is right. Do select someone with plenty of experience of the dental world, as your cho- sen designer must know the dentistry business inside out to fully appreciate your requirements. You should expect a good designer to listen first. Ex- plain the ethos of your prac- tice along with your long and short-term goals. Show photos of the practice, inside and out. Describe the treat- ments you offer, identify the type of patients you are seek- ing to attract and who your competitors are. Communi- cate your colour preferences and show any examples of branding you particularly like.
